THE ORIGINAL & AUTHENTIC

"AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLE"

"This explanation is a Must Read if you are looking to adopt a Labradoodle Puppy"

Welcome To Mt. San Blas Labradoodles.

Beacause there is so much confusion regarding the many different versions and names of what is now known as a LABRDOODLE, it's become neccessary to provide an education about what goes into creating the dog that has made it's name so famous.

The original crossing of a Poodle and Labrador is known as an F1

THis was first done many years ago in Australia in the hopes of creating an allergy friendly guide dog for the sight impaired.  The results of this cross created dogs that were unpredictable in temperament, high shedding, allergy unfriendly and too big.  After too many failures, the original breeder gave up on this new breed.  Later on, two women picked up on this idea and began their own engineering project.

They found that it was like a Rubix Cube.  It must be done just the right way. You must breed the right two dogs, from the correct breeds, at the right time.  The original Australian Labradoodle is a secret recipe of five different breeds.  These different breeds each have unique qualities that are needed to overcome a lesser quality from a previous crossing...Hence more than just one or two crosses of just two breeeds are required to complete the famous Labradoodle/Australian Service Dog.

They bred the progeny of each crossing in a very deliberate sequence in order to create a foundational blueprint... It's not just as simple as crossing a Poodle to a Labrador. I love the Standard Poodle and the Labrador Retriever, but crossing these breeds only once or even twice does not make a True Australian Labradoodle...Just as it takes a lot to build a fantastic car or piece of art, there is a lot to it. Let's face it, if it were that easy it would have been done by the dogs themselves a long time ago.

In short... The original Labradoodle cannot be created by accident, that is, the male dog jumping over the fence and hooking up with the girl when she's in heat...... This is an engineering project!

They are given the name "Australian" Labradoodle, simply because it was in Australia that the genetic engineering for this breed began, and is where all the research and development took place.

There are many people creating the early models of Labradoodle, much the same as a T Model Ford was the first version of cars we now know...It is certainly no Formular One Racing Car...
There is also a difference in FEATURES AND PERFORMANCE between the early model Labradoodle and the highly EVOLVED MULTI-GENERATONAL LEVEL.

These Labradoodles appear in a few different configurations, and they all have their own names, F1, F1b or F2. I'm not addressing those bloodlines here, but I want to mention them to make the reader aware that they exist and are not what we are breeding here at Mt. San Blas Labradoodles.

This Is The Formula that created the "Original" Bloodline in Australia

Step 1) Lab bred toPoodle = F1 Labradoodle
Step 2) F1 Bred to an Irish Water Spaniel
Step 3) Offspring bred to a Curly Coat Retriever
Step 4) Foundation "Australian Labradoodle" is born.

They then go on and on breeding with other Australian Labradoodles and or a (Poodle) in some cases, to change the coat or color.
This takes as many as 10 years to get to, just for starters!

The Lab Poodle Cross
The formula

Step 1) Lab bred to Poodle = F1
Step 2) F1 bred to poodle = F1b
Step 3) F1 or F1b can be bred to another one.

This version ends it's evolution at this point.
This takes only one or at best, two generations to achieve.
